If you are terminally ill, you may come under special rules for some benefits.

For Personal Independence Payment, Disability Living Allowance and Attendance Allowance, you count as terminally ill if you have a disease that will get worse and your death can reasonably be expected within 6 months.

For Employment and Support Allowance and Universal Credit, you count as terminally ill if you have a disease that will get worse and your death can reasonably be expected within 12 months.

For Scottish Adult Disability Payment and Scottish Child Disability Payment, you count as terminally ill if it is the opinion of your doctor that your illness is terminal.
